Dress them up with living color

Most of us look at our house posts as just those things than hold up our porches or roofs. As part of the structure of our homes, they become invisible elements we look past every day. We pass them morning and night, going about our business without a second glance. And so they sit there, unloved and ignored—a sad, useless wasted space.

But some people look at house posts and wonder “Why aren’t we doing more with them?” They see a tall, graceful expanse and suddenly imagine a platform for beauty. One of those people is my husband, Todd.

He’s an ex-finance guy, which I freely admit, doesn’t normally scream “creative”. But we’re plant lovers and he wanted to do something he was passionate about, so 15 years ago he started a landscape company. Along the way, we also bought a ramshackle house and renovated it ourselves, with Todd acting as the general contractor. And then, two years ago, he had an idea—and the El Patio Post Planter was born.

It’s been quite a journey as we’ve endeavored to bring our baby to life. From creating 3D printed prototypes to sourcing a US manufacturer to finally pulling the trigger on expensive injection molds, together we’ve been slowly but surely marching toward this day.

And it’s finally here. The El Patio Post Planter is now for sale, just in time for spring. Check it out. And give your house posts the love they deserve.

The El Patio Post Planter is the world’s only adjustable wraparound planter for square posts, and works on everything ranging from 4”x 4”s to 10” x 10”s. Use it to add an eye-level pop of color and character and improve the curb appeal to your home.
